About Artroute
Artroute provides international intelligence on contemporary arts and crafts practices around the world, with both in-depth country guides and general arts listings for practitioners to begin building their own networks.
The content is researched by Artquest and by individual visual artists and craftspeople. This means that the country guides are written from the perspective of real, live visual artists and craftspeople, who all have direct experience of living and working as an artist in the countries they are researching. It also means that each guide shows the eclectic mix and opinions of individual practitioners, focussing on the important elements of artistic practice in each country instead of following a set template on the information provided. We'd hope you'd rather that you got the information that's relevant to where you want to go, instead of covering points which are less important.
Artroute aims to equip practitioners in the basic elements of creative practice - giving a basic knowledge of the art scene, venues, legal issues, studios, residencies, possible work opportunities, funding and further links to information and advice services already present around the world. As with the main Artquest website, Artroute is constantly updated with new information.
If you are a London based artist who is planning a visit to one of the countries that we do not yet have in depth information about, why not get involved and write for us? We pay for quality content that we can put on the site. See more information on how to get involved.
At the moment, we have in depth country guides for France, India, China, Armenia and Georgia.
