Artist-Led Spaces

Artist-led spaces are a mixed bunch - some will accept applications, some will have open exhibitions, some will select their entire programme.  As a very general rule, their programmes tend to be more concerned with a critical engagement in artistic practice and can provide useful networking opportunities for artists.

    Founded in 1994, Studio Voltaire actively promotes the creation, presentation and access to contemporary art practice through their Exhibition, Education and Studio Programmes. The organisation is committed to widening access to contemporary art and to harnessing art as a vehicle for further education and learning. They are able to offer affordable studios in a good location in central Clapham with easy access to public transport and local amenities with a key objective being to create a supportive and critical atmosphere to develop contemporary art practice. Applications for studios must be submitted by completing a Studio Voltaire application form with a current CV and up to 6 images of recent work.
