Copyright and the internet

More and more artists are now using the internet to promote their work and it is essential that they protect their work against unauthorised use.

Adding images of their work to the internet can be intentional, through creating their own websites. Sometimes, however, the security of your images can be compromised unwittingly when entering art competitions, which increasingly require submissions of digital images submitted via email.

With the increasing use of technology, artists can find themselves both becoming victims and perpetrators of copyright infringements and breaches of the Data Protection Act (regulating the electronic storage of personal data).
