Disability benefits
There are a large number of different benefits for disabled people for housing, council tax payments, income support, altering your home or for care or services you require.
- The Disability Living Allowance pays for help if you or your child is disabled or terminally ill
- The Attendance Allowance is for people aged 65 or over, ill or disabled and need help with personal care
- The Employment and Support Allowance (formerly Incapacity Benefit, and replacing Income Support for disabled claimants) offering support and financial help so that you can do appropriate work, if you are able to
- The Disabled Students' Allowances provide help for students who have extra costs while studying, because of their disability
- The Constant Attendance Allowance for disabled people getting Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit or a War Disablement Pension
- The Community Care Grant if you're claiming certain benefits and, for example, need money to adapt your home for your disability
- The Disabled Facilities Grants helps pay for adapting your home by installing a ramp, stair lift or other improvements
- The Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit is for ill or disabled people because of a work-related accident
- Independent Living Funds, to help you live at home, not in residential care, if you're disabled
- Blue Badge parking scheme to help you park closer to your destination if you're a disabled driver or passenger
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (diseases and deafness) for people made ill or disabled because of disease or deafness caused by work
- The War Disablement Pension for people injured or disabled during war or from serving in HM Armed Forces
- The Vaccine Damage Payment, a £120,000 tax-free payment if your severe disability is caused by vaccination against certain diseases

Working Tax Credits
Tax credits provide extra income to people who are employed or self-employed (and, separately, people with children), either on their own or in a partnership, depending on their age and circumstances who usually work 30 hours or more a week; are paid for that work; and expect to work for at least 4 weeks.
