    Photowors is a visual arts organisation based in Brighton. They regularly commission new photography projects, produce exhibitions and publications, and initiate research and education programmes. Also publish Photoworks Magazine biannually, showcasing both established artists and emerging talents, providing a unique forum for photographic debate and critical writing.

    AHRC have a range of UK-wide programmes supporting the highest quality research and postgraduate training in the arts and humanities. From around 1500 applications to their seven Research schemes they make around 550-600 awards. From around 5500 applications to their Postgraduate schemes for funding people in Higher education they make around 1500 awards. In addition, AHRC manage on an agency basis for HEFCE (the Higher Education Funding Council for England) almost £10 million to fund museums, galleries and other collections in English HEIs (Higher Education Institutions).

    The Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award is worth GBP10,000. It was established in memory of Alexandra Reinhardt, an artist who died in 2004 aged 43, having battled with a rare blood disorder and profound deafness all her life. The Award was established to fund a 12 week artist-in-residence project culminating in the creation of a piece of public art. From 2010 the Award will be run by The Art Room, a charity based in London and Oxford, that offers art as therapy to young people aged 5 -15 to raise their self-esteem, self confidence and independence. Deadline for 2010: 29th January.

    The Winston Churchill Trust was set up after Churchill's death by public subscriptions to fund Travelling Fellowships. All British Citizens are eligible for the annual awards. The Fellowships are intended to enable men and women from all walks of life to acquire knowledge and experience abroad. Churchill Fellows can be of any age and in any occupation. Everyone has an equal chance; a lack of qualifications is not a bar to an award as every application is judged on the worth of the individual and the merit of the project. Past award winners have included nurses, artists, scientists, engineers, farmers, conservationists, carers, craft workers, artisans, members of the emergency services, sportsmen and women and people with disabilities. Successful applicants receive a grant to cover all your Fellowship expenses: return air fare, daily living, travel within the countries being visited and, in exceptional cases, certain home expenses. In 2000, the Trust awarded grants in excess of £600,000. You will also be insured against accident, medical expenses and loss of baggage while you are away. Grants usually cover a stay overseas of 4-12 weeks. Categories for applications vary - and change every year - but include, in Performing and Creative Arts, choreographers, composers, writers, painters and sculptors. In 2010 applications open in March and close in October.

    Artists successful in their application for this fellowship will be required to live in Berwick, in the historic Berwick Barracks producing a new body of work in response to the location. Fellows receive a fee, materials allowance, free accommodation and studio. Not open to artists who have graduated in the last three years.

    The Henry Moore Foundation awards grants in six categories: New Projects, Collections, Research and Development, Fellowships for Artists, Conferences and Post-Doctoral research Fellowships. Grants are awarded quarterly. The collections comprise sculptures, a library, a slide library and an archive of works on paper, models and original documents. Fellows will be offered accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem in order to use these resources for one month. The Institute is also able to offer the possibility of presenting finished research projects in published form, as a seminar, or in its galleries.

  • Sovereign European Art Prize

    The Sovereign Art Foundation was initially set up in Hong Kong to promote and aid Asian artists through the annual competition and charity auction. Due to the overwhelming success of the Sovereign Asian Art Prize, the Foundation expanded to London and the Sovereign European Art prize was established in 2005. After the Exhibition the final 30 selections, apart from the winning work which becomes property of the Foundation, will be auctioned at a special charity event. The proceeds of each work are evenly split between the artist and the Foundation,to help with its charitable work. Nominations are selected through gallerists and curators.

    The primary focus of Film and Video Umbrella's activities is the curation and production of artists' film and video work for gallery exhibition at venues in England. Film and Video Umbrella commissions approximately eight new projects a year - each of which is developed in collaboration with a partner venue before touring to other galleries in England and, on occasion, further afield.Their Project section features over 80 different artists' commissions from the past fifteen years.

  • Cass Sculpture Foundation

    The Foundation is a charitable organisation which operates by way of a rigorous commissioning process. Approximately 20 new monumental works, predominantly by contemporary British sculptors, are produced annually. Once a work has been placed the Foundation splits the profit between the artist and the next commission. The Foundation's commissioning process is, in its initial stages, an organic process based upon dialogue between the Foundation and prospective artists.
