    Individual and group residencies where 'ideas, music, poetry, art and more can be developed, tried out and eventually disseminated'. It also encourages and affects thinking about the place of artists, creative thinkers and culture in specific communities and in the society at large. Residencies can vary in length from one week to one month.  A residency can involve active engagement with Centrum programs, other artists, Fort Worden State Park or Port Townsend, or it can serve as a reflective retreat. Creative Residencies are available all year round and arranged in one weeks blocks.There are fees, that differ depending on the time of year.

    The Foundation offers both short and long-term residencies. Full-time residencies are for one to two years, with short-term residencies usually in the summer months. The Foundation periodically offers extended stays to visiting artists. Each resident artist is provided a studio, with glazing and kiln facilities shared. Fuel and material costs are the responsibility of the artist. The Foundation purchases clay and other necessary materials in large lots to keep the artists' costs low. Artists may consign their work for sale through the on-site Bray Gallery for a one third commission. Resident artists can find housing in the surrounding area, making their own arrangements. Most residents find it necessary to have a car.

    943 Studio' is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 2006 by a group of contemporary Yunnan artists and designers. The vision of our studio is to promote cooperation among different artists working across diverse fields and geographical areas, advocate new artistic experimentation, and deepen relationships between all forms of art and the public. They run residencies in the following disciplines: Visual arts/Performing arts/ Architecture/Textiles/Music/Literature/Educational programmes/New Media/Curators/Critics. Duration: 1-6 months. 943studio does not provide grants to artists. They will try their best to help you to connect with local artists and Arts University during your stay. If your application fits with the University education program, you will be paid for the lectures or events you will run. Participants are required to cover the costs of living and studio, the costs are to be paid full in cash on arrival. Send CV, 10 images of recent artwork and proposal by email.

    The Klondike Institute of Art & Culture is accepting applications from visual, media and interdisciplinary artists for it's Artist in Residence Program. The residence accommodates up to 2 artists concurrently for research, development and production of ongoing or new bodies of work. Artists may also have the opportunity to facilitate outreach programs such as talks, open studios, workshops and exhibitions, intended to promote interaction and professional development, and provide exposure and access to a diverse range of contemporary arts practices and theories within the community. Artists are provided at no cost with individual studio space and bedroom, with shared living facilities.Participants are responsible for all travel and personal expenses including food and materials related to their work. The Artist in Residence program is located in the Macaulay Residence. Built in 1901, the home is now owned by Parks Canada as part of the Dawson Historical Complex National Historic Site of Canada.  general call residencies will run April 21 through June 30, and from August 21 through December 31, 2014.  Deadline: 1 April annually for general residency calls, check website for specific call residency deadline dates.

    Anderson Ranch offers a residency program designed to encourage the creative, intellectual and personal growth of emerging and established visual artists. Residents are encouraged to pursue a multidisciplinary approach toward their work while at the Ranch. Resident artists will be provided with housing, studio space, meals and certain other benefits and will be required to submit a residency fee of $1,500. While in residence, there is an optional structure of critical study such as studio visits, visiting artists and critics. Fall Term: October - December (ten weeks) Spring Term: February - April (ten weeks) Check website for deadline dates.

    The Ucross Foundation is host to residencies by artists, writers and performers in a facility set in a former Wyoming ranch complex. Residencies of two to eight weeks with accommodation, a studio and board provided are offered. Applications should be accompanied by three references, CV and examples of work, varying according to art form. There is a $40 non refundable application fee.

    Established in 1993 Darat al Funun was conceived as a specialized art center, incorporating exhibition spaces, a research and video library, open workshops and studios, visiting artists residence and venues for the performing arts. The aim is to provide a platform for visual art in the arab world. Dates and deadlines are listed on the website when new residency opportunities are available.

  • Djerassi Resident Artists Programme

    Located in a former cattle ranch in San Francisco, the programme is open to international visual artists (Filmmakers, Video Artists, Multi Media, Performance, Sound/Radio Artists, Interdisciplinary Arts, etc). There are generally 3 writers, 1 choreographer, 1 composer, 2 visual artists, and 1 media artist in residence for each session and the core residency period is from mid-March through mid-November each year. The deadline date is February 15th each year. Airfare not provided but other costs paid with an application fee of  $35.

  • The Griffis Art Center's Artist in Residence programme

    Twice a year a visual artists are selected to be a guests of the Griffis Art Center for a five month residency in New London, Connecticut USA. The artists are selected on the basis of their application, their demonstrated commitment to art by the education they have chosen, their discipline, their CV and references. An artist's work may be contemporary or traditional, and may include most types of medium. However, certain casting techniques, which take too long to produce finished products, may have to be eliminated. Printmaking, photography and casting equipment are not available on the premises. During their months of residency, each artist is provided with a spacious, private, fully furnished apartment including all utilities, studio space and an Open Studio Exhibition.

    The residency programme provides professional artists with a subsidized opportunity to live and work at the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts on Toronto Island for one month. The residency is designed to further the professional development of artists and enable the creation, dissemination and production of new work by providing participants with time and space to think, create and experiment in a highly supportive environment. The competition is open to Canadian and international artists who are engaged in the research or creation of work.

    The Banff Centre is Canada's only learning centre dedicated to the arts, leadership development, and mountain culture. Each year the residencies are themed. Arts programs are at the core of The Banff Centre. Programming supports the commissioning and creation of new work by individual artists and arts collectives, and provides resources for collaboration and applied research.
