Initial research

Before you begin your hunt for a gallery ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are my long-term career goals?
  • What are the key qualities, services or responsibilities I want from a gallery?

Then do your home work:

  • Research galleries at several different levels dealing with artists at different stages of their career, and be realistic about where you stand entering the market for the first time.
  • Once you have a short list of galleries who match your criteria start doing more intensive research and ask the questions on the checklist on the In depth research page.
