IP for Curators - part 1: Organising an exhibition with existing work

This first session looked at what you need to consider when putting on an exhibition using existing works of art, including loan agreements, clearing rights, licensing for promotion, merchandising and publications.
Speakers included David Hall, Collections Registrar for ARTIST ROOMS at TATE and a presentation by a law specialist who considered the issues from a legal perspective.
IP for Curators - part 2: The commissioning process

This event covered best practice when commissioning artists to produce new work for a show, moral rights and what you should consider when you develop a project collaboratively.
Speakers for this event included Hannah Liley. Hannah works as an independent exhibitions organiser and curator. She has commissioned, organised and curated exhibitions and off-site projects including French artist Alain Bublex's first solo show in the UK, a multi-sited European billboard project by Simon Starling and Peter Kennard's exhibition Uncertified Documents, 30 years of photomontage work. She has worked at Matt's Gallery, London, Pump House Gallery and Institute of Visual Culture and is currently working with The Otolith Group on their UK commissions and international exhibitions.
The session also included a presentation by a law specialist who considered the issues from a legal perspective.
