Malta Contemporary Art is a non-profit cultural organization founded in October 2008. MCA is Malta's first art centre focusing entirely on Contemporary Art. Its main function is that of a public gallery showcasing international and local emerging and established visual artists through a programme of solo and group exhibitions curated by MCA and invited professionals. A contemporary art collection of donated works is also being established. MCA is also starting a series of public art project commissions outside the gallery in collaboration with corporate and governmental entities, local councils and other organizations. An education programme, film production house and online journal are also in the process of being set up.
