Pensions provide an income to retired people, and are based on different types of savings made during your working life.

The DirectGov website has a useful introduction to pensions and information on different types of pensions, which together form pretty much everything you need to know.  a-n also has information on specific options for artists.

You may also be interested in visiting the Pensions Service website for basic State pension information and a retirement calculator; the Money Made Clear website for information on other pensions types; and the London Pensions Fund Authority website, the providers of many pensions for arts teachers and tutors in Futher and Higher Education.

    The Government has set up The Pension Service, which is part of the Department for Work and Pensions. They are able to work out the amount of State Pension and Pension Credit that you are entitled to receive, no matter how far off is your retirement.
