Studios and Resources

The Ministry of culture and communication has a certain number of studios and accomodation available for artists. These are managed by the regional arts offices, listed in the DRAC section.

Many towns in France also have artists' studios and applications should be made directly to the town hall (Mairie).

These facilities are obviously intended primarily for French artists but once an artist is officially established in France, it is feasible to apply for these facilities. For information and contacts for individual departments, see www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/fr(dep.html.

For the Paris region, requests for studios should be addressed to the DRAC, visual arts department:

Direction régionale des affaires culturelles (DRAC)
Service des arts plastiques, 98 rue de Charonne, 75011 Paris
Tel: 00 33 1 56 06 50 10
Fax: 00 33 1 56 06 52 46
http://www.culturecommunication.gouv.fr/Regions

Or to the Cultural department of the city of Paris:

Direction des affaires culturelles de la Ville de Paris
Hôtel d'Albret, 31, rue des Francs Bourgeois - 75004 Paris
Tel: 00 33 1 42 76 66 76

For production facilities available in France, it is advisable to contact the DRAC of the area you are in.
