Visual Arts: Small

These galleries and venues show the work of mainly early or mid career artists and craftspeople.  However, some will still not accept unsolicited applications, and you would be well advised to contact them individually to enquire how they can be approached.  Best of all would be to visit the galleries you are interested in to see first-hand how they operate, and to talk to members of staff.

    SPACE, founded in 1968, is an art and educational charity providing affordable studios for approximately 450 visual artists in East & South East London. SPACE also provides digital & professional development training for artists, has its own resident public art team, exhibition spaces, sculpture and print workshops. The Triangle also offers a range of hire facilities and spaces.

    198 Contemporary Arts mission is to advance public interest in the visual arts, as well as nurture and support the career of emerging, under-represented artists. Notions of globalisation, culture, identity and the post-colonial are central to their curatorial approach to exhibiting and promoting international and British artists. It also provides education and training resources.

    The arts team manages a programme of Somali cultural events and work with a team of studio artists based at Oxford House who are supported in exchange for work with and for the community. Oxford House also offer a Citizen Advice Bureau every Tuesday afternoon.
