Your degree show is your gallery
You are the manager of your space! It’s your responsibility and yours alone. Make the space look good, and make the work look good too.
- Once you’ve been assigned your showing space, you become a curator. Be objective and thoughtful. Make the most of your space and use a critical eye and input from friends to edit the work down to a tight and concise show. Put in the extra work to make sure the walls look their best and that your hang is level and professional.
- Be sure the work is labeled (in whatever format you and your classmates agree). Nothing is worse than liking a work but not being able to find out whose work it is.
- Try to be in your space whenever you can and keep it clean, restock your business cards, answer questions, make sure the work is working, and to turn on and off video projectors or electrical equipment. There is no point in working hard on your show and then not bothering to unlock the door to your space or turn on AV work each day when the show is advertised as open.
