Artists Resale Right

Basics of Artists Resale Royalty Right

Artists resale right (ARR) entitles UK artists to receive a small percentage of the purchase price of works whenever a UK art market professional is involved in the resale of a work for €1,000 or more.

It was introduced into UK law on February 14 2006 by the Artist' Resale Right Regulations 2006 Act, and throughout the rest of the EU the same year.  It originates from France where it is known as droit de suit.
