Legal

Introduction

Although France's legal system has some similarities with the UK system, mainly because of its membership of the EU, there are notable differences - most relevantly in the area of copyright.  Additionally, contracts are only valid in the country in which they are agreed, unless it specifically states in the contract which other legal systems the contract is to be bound by.

This section also covers droit de suite - the French term for artists' resale royalty rights, active in the UK since February 2006 - contracts and tax considerations should you find work in France.
