There are not many post-graduate fine art courses in France at the moment and it is not particularly common for art graduates to continue their studies immediately after their degree. The post-grad courses in art schools put particular emphasis on professional practice. These courses are international and thus open to candidates of any nationality but as there are not many places, it is extremely competitive. A working knowledge of French is generally expected.

As the art schools in France are not within the university system, anyone wanting to do a further degree combining a more academic approach alongside their own practice would need to look at a Master's degree ("Master" 1 and 2) within the "Arts Plastiques" departments to be found in many universities.
