The Korean Cultural Centre UK and the British Council are looking for artists of Korean origin working in the UK. The selected artists' work will be exhibited at the Korean Cultural Centre in December 2008. The Korean Cultural Centre will be responsible for insuring the works during exhibition and transit, organizing pick-up and redelivery of the work within the UK, installation and dismantling. A small catalogue will be produced on occasion of the exhibition.

1 August: Surface Bursary Scheme 08/09

London Printworks Trust bursary scheme is open for applications. The scheme offers a one year residency with professional development support for an artist or designer who has graduated from a UK-based MA course in either 2007 or 2008. The recipient receives: £2,500 towards new work, access to textile print resource, one-to-one support free studio space at ASC Studios in Brixton. Applications from artists who may not have worked in printed textiles previously are very welcome.

To promote creative exchange between Danish and foreign artists and art institutions, The Danish Arts Council has established an artist-in-residence program in Denmark. The program makes it possible to invite artists from abroad to stay and work in Denmark for extended periods. In 2009, the program offers residencies ranging from 3-6 months, but application for shorter periods of residency is also possible. Each artist receives a grant of 10,000 DKK per month to cover expenses.

Submissions are open for filmmakers from around the world to submit short films (animation, music video, artist films, narrative, documentary etc.) up to 10 minutes on the theme "Money Money Money". Films will be screened on 21 November 2008 at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and simultaneously in Athens, Barcelona, Maribor, Munich, Novi Sad, Paris, Istanbul, Naples, Poznan and several other cities in Europe and beyond. Situated adjacent to the site of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Stratford City is the largest retail-led, mixed-use urban regeneration project ever undertaken in the United Kingdom. As developer of Stratford City, Westfield Shoppingtowns Ltd is commissioning artworks to contribute to the development's public art programme.The 'Story of Change' project will document the progress of the development over the next three years, from a building site to the completed retail centre. Coordinated and managed by Creative Partnerships, the artist selected to develop this commission will work with two local schools. The artist will research not only the development, but consider how these changes will affect the students and their families.

The Three Graces competition, organized by Swarovski and Tank, is an open call to filmmakers and creatives working with the moving image to develop a short film to accompany one of three exclusive tracks they have commissioned for the project. Submissions will interpret the myth of the Three Graces, who symbolise the qualities of radiance, joy and abundance.The film competition has three rounds running over seven months. There is a cash prize of €1,500 for each round and a grand prize of €3,500, which will be awarded in January 2009. Submissions will be judged by a prestigious panel of filmmakers and leading industry insiders.

Currently under construction, the £12million project is being built on the Mount Vernon hospital site at Rickmansworth and is on time to complete and open in January 2009. Call for submissions for a free one-day newspaper exploring regeneration, decay, the role of the artist, and the repetition of history in the context of Liverpool as European Capital of Culture. The newspaper will be distributed over the course of a day during the Liverpool Biennial, via a series of mapped routes that will take in relevant aspects of the city's landscape.Suggested themes for contributions could include Capitals of Culture, past present and future, regeneration, cultural hegemony, cultural tourism, utopia/dystopia, London 2012 Olympics, Liverpool, globalisation, biennialism and the role and position of the artist. One of the oldest festivals for video art in the world, VIDEONALE 12 will present the latest trends in video art from 26 March to 26 April 2009. There is no set topic for submissions, but only single-channel works can be entered. VIDEONALE 12 will open with a four-day festival featuring a variety of events; the exhibition will run for four weeks, showcasing 40 to 50 video works chosen by an international jury.
