The City & Guilds of London Art School was established in Kennington by the City & Guilds of University of the Arts London in 1879 as an extension of the Lambeth School of Art. Over the ensuing years, the School has expanded its activities and courses and now attracts students from abroad and throughout the UK. The School has BA (Hons) courses in Fine Art: Painting and Sculpture and Conservation Studies as well as the recently validated MA degree in Fine Art, and has around two hundred students, mostly full-time. There is a very high staff-to-student ratio and classes are small.

Arts Policy and Management: The course consists of 4 modules - 2 compulsory and 2 electives - and a 15,000 word dissertation. Compulsory modules are: Arts Management in Practice Arts Framework. There are also a range of complementary 'academic support' initiatives available that are especially designed for students who left school some time ago. Directed at artists and curators, this course considers in detail how to apply an understanding of the art world to individual needs and ambitions.
