Creative and Cultural Skills

Website: http://ccskills.org.uk/

Creative & Cultural Skills are the Sector Skills Council for Craft, Cultural Heritage, Design, Literature, Music, Performing, and Visual Arts, and the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural. They aim to give young people opportunities to work and learn in the creative industries and to ensure that employers benefit from a skilled generation of talent. CCSkills are a campaigning organisation championing youth employment and fair access, encouraging the UK’s 107,000 creative businesses to create 50,000 opportunities to help stem the tide of youth unemployment.

Programmes include Creative Choices – a resource for anyone that wants to work in a creative career; Creative Apprenticeships – a programme to change recruitment culture, away from unpaid work and towards a more sustainable model by putting over 4,000 young people in apprenticeships across the UK since 2008; The Backstage Centre – a world-class technical training and rehearsal facility in Purfleet, Essex; research and industry standards – conducting research to improve understanding of the skills needs of creative and cultural industries.
