The Santa Fe Art Institute Residency program began in response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, as SFAI initiated the Emergency Relief Residencies. The current Artists and Writers in Residence Program offers emerging artists and writers the time, space and opportunity to take risks and experiment as paths toward initiating new projects or enriching earlier ones. Lengths of residencies range from one to three months. For those who are accepted to a residency and do not qualify for an existing scholarship, the cost of the residency is $1000 per month as well as an application fee of $35(Financial aid is available). Deadlines are July 5 and December 31 each year.
