The Carriage House

Since 1993, the Carriage House has been used as a project space where contemporary artists can create and exhibit new and experimental work. The 10,000 square foot structure is located next door to the Islip Art Museum galleries in Brookwood Hall, East Islip, New York, approximately 50 miles from Manhattan on the south shore of Long Island. Work that cannot be situated in more formal galleries and museums because of technical considerations is frequently accepted at the Carriage House. The Islip Art Museum presents exhibitions of projects and installations by new and emerging artists at the Carriage House site, including Projects, an exhibition culled from the Islip Art Museum’s annual call for proposals. See the website for more application information regarding the residences, application forms and information about the layout of the Carriage House.
