The MacDowell Colony Fellowship

The colony provides workspace for writers, composers, filmmakers and architects, as well as visual artists of all disciplines. The oldest artists’ colony in the USA, it now consists of thirty-two secluded studios set in 450 acres of fields and woodlands. Visual artists and other art form practitioners can apply for residencies of up to eight weeks. There are printmaking, darkroom and 16mm film editing facilities. There are no residency fees and there is a scheme for assistance with travel costs. There are three dealines a year, one in January, one in April and one in September; applications should be accompanied by two references, a project description, and examples of work (varies according to art form), with SAE for return of your work plus US $20 application fee.
