Public Art Commission in Southampton
‘a space’ arts are seeking expressions of interest from contemporary visual artists for a new public art commission at Cumberland Place in Southampton. The new development, to be known as ‘Southampton Crossings’ will incorporate high quality student accommodation on behalf of Victoria Hall Development ltd. This project offers a genuinely exciting opportunity for artistic intervention and the chance to site a permanent work in a prominent Southampton location. The brief outlines various themes relating to the site that are offered as starting points for inspiration, however the project is also open to interpretation and further research by the artist is encouraged. The commissioner would particularly favour work that is site specific and allows visitors to experience the wider urban environment in a new, interesting and engaging way. The artwork should aim to be large-scale, ambitious and create a new contemporary landmark. The work must be installed on site by September 2019 and completed for £22k.
Expires: December 5, 2018
